I never considered myself someone who would spend hours staring at a grid of numbers. In fact, I used to think puzzles were boring, something only my math-loving friends could enjoy. Then, one rainy afternoon, boredom and curiosity collided, and I downloaded a Sudoku app. Little did I know, my quiet curiosity was about to turn into a borderline obsession.

My first puzzle was labeled “easy.” I assumed it would be a breeze—after all, how hard could it be to fill numbers 1 through 9? Well, reality had other plans. I stared at the empty grid for a solid five minutes, unsure where to start. I filled in a few numbers randomly, convinced I was being clever, only to realize halfway through that I had made a mess. My first experience with Sudoku was confusing, frustrating, and slightly humiliating—but oddly fun.
